Swerock presents world news at leading construction equipment fair in Germany

On monday 7.4.2025, Swerock, Volvo Trucks and Putzmeister unveiled one of the world's largest concrete pumps that is 100 percent electric. The battery-electric concrete pump is completely emission-free, has a range of 42 meters and was ordered by Swerock, which was involved in the project. The new product is now on display at the world's leading trade fair for construction equipment, Bauma in Germany.

The electrification of the construction and civil engineering industry continues forward. Swerock, which is part of the Peab Group, is a driving force in this development on the Nordic market for concrete mixer trucks and concrete pumps.

Volvo Trucks and Swerock have had a long-standing and successful partnership that began in 2015. Since then the companies have worked together to develop semi-electric and all-electric rotators, electric trucks and recently hybrid pumps together with the German company Putzmeister. They presented the latest addition to the fleet in conjunction with the world's leading trade fair for construction equipment. A unique all-new battery-electric concrete pump has been developed on behalf of Swerock where Volvo Trucks manufactured the truck and Putzmeister the concrete pump. It is a more sustainable alternative for pumping concrete to customers in the construction industry.

"We’ve had fantastic collaborations with Volvo and Putzmeister over the years and now we’ve reached a new level together. By completely reducing emissions from our concrete vehicles, we are making an important environmental investment for the future, our children and grandchildren. In addition, the new all-electric concrete pump is both quiet and emission-free, which gives our employees a significantly better working environment," says Angelika Bohlin, MD of Swerock in Sweden.

The new concrete pump is an important step in Swerock's work to become climate neutral by 2045. With it, the company can offer a zero-exhaust alternative for the entire process from transport to mixing and pumping. Traditional concrete pumping entails a diesel truck in operation during pumping, creating exhaust fumes and noise. With the new concrete pump, it’s possible to drive up to 50 kilometers to a construction site and then pump around 50 cubic meters of concrete without charging. For longer distances, or for larger quantities of concrete, a 63 or 32 A CCS2 charging solution can be installed on site, and concrete pumping can continue while the truck's batteries are charging.

"Swerock is one of the largest companies on the Nordic market for concrete trucks and concrete pumps and now we’re leading the way in the industry's sustainable transition. We're very proud of that," says Angelika Bohlin.

The concrete pump will be on display from April 7th to 13th at the Putzmeister stand in Hall B6 at the fair.
