Scania Dynamic updates R- and S-series trucks with lower energy use and improved cab comfort
Scania has introduced Dynamic, a comprehensive update to its R- and S-series trucks covering aerodynamics, visibility and the driver environment. According to the manufacturer, the changes reduce total energy consumption by around two percent, depending on vehicle specification and operating conditions. The updates apply to both battery-electric and combustion-engine vehicles.
Exterior changes include digital rear-view mirrors, side skirt extensions, redesigned A-pillars, new door handles and a protruding front designed to support Increased Vehicle Dimension legislation. Together, these changes reduce aerodynamic drag.
For combustion-engine trucks, the efficiency improvements translate into lower fuel consumption. For battery-electric vehicles, they reduce electricity consumption, helping operators make better use of the energy stored on board.

Digital mirrors offer selectable views
Digital rear-view mirrors are among the most visible changes. In addition to reducing air drag, the system is designed to improve visibility when reversing and manoeuvring in confined spaces.
Full-HD screens on the driver and passenger sides offer standard, zoom and wide-angle views. Adjustable vertical reference lines with measurements help drivers judge distances.
The camera lenses are positioned to provide natural protection against dirt. Heating helps prevent fogging and the accumulation of ice and snow.
The updated headlamps offer an extended high-beam range and a wider, brighter beam, alongside improved low-beam comfort. Automatic high beam adjusts the lighting to avoid disturbing other road users. According to Scania, the changes improve visibility and reduce strain during night driving.
Revised seats, reclining bed and more lighting options
Inside the cab, Scania Dynamic introduces a new colour scheme, updated seat upholstery and new textiles for the beds, rear wall and ceiling.
The interior also uses more recycled materials. The curtains are made entirely from recycled material, while the wall and ceiling panels contain 70 percent recycled material.
The seat range has been developed to address new headrest safety requirements while improving ergonomics and comfort. An optional 800 mm reclining bed has a back section that can be adjusted up to 60 degrees, providing more flexibility during rest periods.
Interior lighting is available in several levels, ranging from functional white lighting to Ambient+, which offers multiple solid colours and themes, including one inspired by the northern lights.
Lars Gustafsson, Senior Vice President, Head of Solutions Management at Scania, says the improvements are intended to make the cab a better place to work, rest and recover. He adds that a more intuitive working environment can support driver focus and help reduce fatigue.
Driver assistance and practical storage details
The update includes driver assistance functions such as Safe Stop Assist, Forward Distance Alert and Vulnerable Road User support. Speed Sign Cruise Control and Curve Speed Cruise Control are designed to support smoother driving. Scania emphasises that these systems assist the driver without replacing driver responsibility.
Practical additions include a magnetic wireless charger delivering 15 W of charging power. It holds the phone in place while allowing air to circulate underneath to reduce heat build-up.
A glove hanger tray in the external storage compartment provides ventilated storage for wet or dirty gloves, helping them dry while keeping the cab cleaner.
