Scania introduces Longline cab for series production

Scania is taking the next step in its premium cab offering by introducing the Longline cab into regular production. Built on Scania’s strong heritage and modular system, the new cab will be offered as a low-volume, factory-certified solution for customers seeking extended space, comfort, and flexibility.

Scania Longline

The Longline cab combines elements of Scania’s CrewCab and S-series high-roof cab, creating a product that no other OEM currently offers from factory production. The cab will be produced in Laxå, while chassis production takes place in Södertälje.

“This is a natural evolution of a concept that has long been appreciated by customers,” says Lars Gustafsson, Head of Trucks at Scania. “With Longline, we combine heritage with modern industrialisation and offer a platform that can be tailored to individual needs.”

Flexible platform with modular interior design

Rather than being a fully predefined interior solution, the Longline cab is designed as a flexible platform. From factory, it will be delivered with a limited interior configuration behind the seats, including options such as a standard bed with storage or shelving, or a more open layout.

The design focuses on clearly defined mounting points, enabling customers to configure interiors according to their specific operational needs.

“We simply don’t add things that aren’t needed, limiting waste in line with our sustainability targets,” says Samuel Suderbys, Managing Director of Scania’s operations in Laxå.

Many customers are expected to further customise their vehicles with tailored paint and interior solutions. To support this, Scania will offer premium paint options across all automotive colours in collaboration with a Swedish custom paint partner, helping to reduce lead times from delivery to operation.

Designed to improve driver conditions

The Longline concept originates from market demand and a growing focus on improving driver working conditions. By offering increased space and flexibility, the cab supports operators in attracting and retaining drivers – a key challenge in the transport industry.

“The cab is not only about space, but about creating a better working environment for drivers. This is increasingly important for our customers,” says Gustafsson.

Developed under European IVD legislation

The Longline cab is adapted to the European IVD legislation (Increased Vehicle Dimensions), which enables longer vehicle combinations across Europe.

Initially, the cab will be available in two length variants – 28 and 31 – both with a high roof. Interior height exceeds two metres, providing standing room for most drivers.

From concept to series production

The Longline project began in 2022 as part of Scania’s approach to specialised transport solutions and customer-driven development.

Sales will begin in April 2026, with first deliveries expected in the autumn of 2026. As a low-volume offering, the Longline cab is intended for customers seeking a platform to build a tailored, unique, and distinctive vehicle solution.
